Born and raised in South Korea, Paul witnessed human suffering while serving in the military as a firefighter, igniting an interest in labor, human rights, and gender inequality. Majoring in law, he engaged in social movements, pondering societal contradictions.

He began photography in Hong Kong, capturing the Umbrella Revolution. Relocating to the UAE, he documented Middle Eastern and African social issues as a KBS (Korean Broadcasting System) cameraman in Dubai. Now based in Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi, he freelances as a photographer, chronicling diverse stories.
